Sublimation of an element or substance is a conversion between the solid and the gaseous phases of matter, with no intermediate liquid stage. Sublimation is a phase transition that occurs at temperatures and pressures below the triple point (see phase diagram).

A subliminal message is a signal or message designed to pass below the normal limits of perception. For example, it might be inaudible to the conscious mind (but audible to the subconscious or deeper mind) or might be an image transmitted briefly, yet perceived unconsciously. In the everyday world, some have claimed that subliminal techniques are used in advertising and propaganda.

In aesthetics, the sublime (from the Latin sublimis (exalted)) is the quality of transcendent greatness, whether physical, moral, intellectual or artistic. The term especially references a greatness with which nothing else can be compared and which is beyond all possibility of calculation, measurement or imitation. This greatness is often used when referring to nature and its vastness.
