Im 18 and i have gotten many compliments in my days but couldn't tell if they were flirting or not. I'm getting ready to go to college and i dont want to look silly infront of every one else if a guy says something nice to me and i try to flirt back. so is complimenting someone always flirting or is it just a compliment and how can a tell the difference. Plus what are some good ways to flirt and/or compliment the other sex???

hey gal it highly depends on his body posture and tone of voice when he's saying something nice about you. Look at his eyes as well. A sincere compliment will come with an interested posture, excited tone as well as an affirming look in the eye.

Well if he's there to flirt, he'll start looking all over you. swaying slightly from side to side while swing his arms or somehow moving them. his tone of voice will tend to sound whiny, takes on varying pitches...

So keep a look out

No, it's not the same thing, maybe the same ball park. Flirting is when one drops hints of being attracted, both verbal and non-verbal. A compliment is purely verbal, and is intended to express an appreciation and approval of a certain aspect of the recipient, either in appearance, job performance, or something else.

If you are paid a compliment, you simply should say "Thank you, that's very kind of you to say," and leave it at that.

To compliment a guy, find something nice about his attire to say something about. Say, "I like that shirt, have you worn that one before? Is it new? That color looks good on you, matches your eyes."

To compliment a gal, same sort of thing, but tread a little more lightly. Don't ever imply that she's old, overweight, or has ever been either. If she's lost weight, definitely tell her she looks like she's lost weight, and that she looks fabulous. If she's got a nice outfit, lean back a bit like you're taking it in, and say, with a serious expression, "Now, THAT'S a great outfit. You should wear that one more often... it's fab!'

Complimenting and flirting are not the same thing. You can compliment someone without flirting with them.

A compliment isn't always flirting ( sometimes it is though). You have to look for the non-verbal clue to know the difference. If the person touches you, or leans forward toward you, or looks into your eyes , they may be flirting.

No they are not the same thing. Complementing is where you are honest in what someone has done. flirting can be insincere. Plus flirting can also be other things like staring or baating eyes.

if you were more experienced with boys you have known.in complimenting and flirting it's a thin line:you should watch how the boy is looking at you......or you should just say tank you

They can be but not necessarily.

Girls can flirt with their eyes alone and a slight smile.
Guys are on the lookout but may be shy.
If so, ask them out. It is ok.

Have fun!!!

Yup, he's flirting back. With my guy friend (who I like) I usually look him deep into his eyes when we talk and sometimes, I put my arm around him and hug him a lot too. Guys like it!
