My girlfriend is black. I am white. People always give us the strangest looks and say really crappy things to us, but we're completely happy. Why?

Why you are happy or Why people stare and say things?
Stay happy and accept that people will always have prejudices, although you can find some societies in today's world where inter-racial courtship are more mainstream.

The most beautiful people I have seen are people of mixed races.
This stands to reason because constant breeding within one race has, in the long run, the same effect as incest. The people from whom I got this observation were white people who married outside their race. Did you see Fiona Hacket, the runner up in the recent Spelling Bee? She is half-Chinese. How about Mariah Carey? Get married. Have a large family. You will have beautiful children.

Because people see that you're happy and they are jealous of what you have and want it.
If you look at it that way, then the strange looks and crappy remarks may not be so hard to deal with.

Many interracial marriage brake up, the stress get more intense when there is a family, However that is also true with marriages of the same race. Difficult to judge. If you think you can make a go of it, it your decision that matters. Perhaps they have not seen a interracial couple before?

Because unfortunately there are a lot of narrow minded jerks out there. If the two of you are happy do not let those judgemental looks get you down.

Maybe it's the people around you.
Try different places.
In Los Angeles or San Francisco or New York I don't think you would have that much of a problem. Maybe where you live??

It is a fact of life. you are a mixed couple. This bothers people. Your happy cause you care for one another and it doesn't matter what others think. Right?

Because some people are jerks and can't mind their own business. I might do a 'double-take' if I saw something like that, but once it registered in my mind, I'd go on about my own affairs.

probably because it is more unusual than the white woman black man relationship. if you two are happy then don't waste your time worrying about it. you have one life so be happy.
