well, it's normal if she's pregnant. If she's not pregnant is she a very atheletic girl, or has she recently lost a lot of weight? Girls sometimes skip their periods when they are say, training for a track or lose a lot of weight

How old is she? It is normal when you first start menstrating. It doesn't set a regular patter for aobut the first year. If she was sexually active she may however be pregnant.

Some very athletic girls and women only have menstration a few times each year but this is very athletic women.

Listening to your body signs is very important and a calendar is helpful for you and your friend--to monitor headaches, when cycles start, how long, cramping etc. That way you can better learn your cycles and it helps when you want to avoid becooming pregnant and later on when you do want to. Cravings of sweets salt and breast tenderness also will help tell you where you are at in your cycle.
Start logging it so ina year or two you will totally know your body sings.
If she needs pregnant test theya re availabe and should be done first thing in the am, they are the same as the ones in the clinic but she does need to see someone if she is sexually active whether or not pregnant for her own protection.

Good Luck

As some people have pointed out, she may be pregnant. MAY is the operative word there. I went for 6 months without a period and my doctor figured out I had PCOS (PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome). She should definitely go and see her doctor because if it continues she could end up with cervical cancer, especially if there is a history of cancer in general in her family. My mother died of bowel cancer about 2 years before I was diagnosed with PCOS so I can tell you from experience that she needs to find out what's going on as soon as possible.

well, it would help to have more information, but, i'll take a shot at it. people of menstrual age can miss periods for many reasons, but pregnancy and stress and poor nutrition would be the top 3. then, there's disease of the uterus or ovaries.
if her periods have been like clockwork up until now, then if she doesnt start by the time of her 3rd period she should ABSOLUTLEY RUN to the doctor. But, some ppl are irregular, and that's not bad, just a hassle.

its best to talk to a gynocologist. absence of periods (amenorrea) can occur from a number of things. Thyroids, stress, weight loss/gain, stress, pregnancy, ovarian failure, birth control. The gynocologist will be able to tell her for sure. Some women have amenorrea for months at a time and then some years. everyones body is different so with her it could be normal. Just make sure she gets to the doctor, we don't want it to be anything major and not know about it.

pregnancy is the main cause of skipped period.
Has she recentely had sex?
She might wanna get a pregnancy test and get it checked out with a doctor.

Or she might be going through menapause(sp?) if she's old enough.

My best bet is for her to get it checked out with a doctor.

It may be that her hormones are off balance, or if she is having intercourse with a man it may be that she is pregnant. Her best bet would be to go to a gynecologist.
