yea, i think da US has lots of violence due to many factors:

First, on the social scale:
***************************
1- the way young people are taught from their early childhood. you know, little attention is given to religion and how it can spread love and happiness. Also, in US, family bonds are quite shaken. Everyone almost thinks of him/herself only, regardless of the fact that he/she is part of a society. all these elements eventually lead to crimes and the increase of violence rate in the American community.

Second, on the political scale:
********************************
2- Greed of US administration makes it yearn for more power and authority over Earth. Hence, the US President practically believes that he is the master of this world and the one ruler havin' the full right to shape and mold planet Earth the way "His majesty" wishes. This leads to universal violence. So without acting like a fanatic, i believe that violence is " pourin' " out of the US that it eventually spread around the world!

LMAO. the idea that somehow we are less moral as a result of our schools not forcing kids into christianity is madness. The morality in this country is not necessarily lower..just different. Those who point to the "good old days" often forget that there was A LOT of highly immoral things that were accepted. Brothels were common during our country's infancy and up to little over a 100 years ago and frequented by our founding fathers. During the so called more moral time it was perfectly legal to rape your wife. I think you forgot about the these sao called moral people enslaving people and even after slavery, jim crow laws made it legal to discrimninate. I could go on and on.. but on to the question.

The USA is violnet because of a number of factors. OBviously, no one person ca nlist them all with certainty but here are some:

1) Any nation with many propsperous people is going to collectively have more that are not so prosperous. the have nots always want what the haves have. so in a nutshell..greed breeds violence.

2) It is easier to get a gun here than most places legally. I'm not going o na gun control rant. jus tstaright facts. we simply have more weapons than any place that is not a warzone.

3) being such a melting pot means more conflicting ideas can flourish wit hmany sides being passionate about how "right they are". Violence by those who see their acts as somehow justified adds to the mix.

4) historically, the more powerful a nation/empire becomes the more violence occurs. not sure why, but it is a historical trend. why should we be an exception? Romans had their coliseums. we have violent sports, movies games and unfortunately reality.

Prayer was taken out ofthe public schools in the 1960's. Every since then violence in this country has grown because morality has been removed. Also, the media is responsible for educating people that violence is normal. The name Jesus has been scorned and even made illegal to say in some circumstances.

it is my belief that with inequality comes violence. the reason for this is because the havenots want what others have (better jobs more money cars) whatever it may be. So it seems to me that there is a correlate between money and violence in the United States anyway. Oh also we have no morals in this country anymore, we just do what ever now days.

Well if you think about it this country was built on violence. I looked in my little brother's social studies/ history book a few months ago and noticed that all the major highlights in the book came form wars. Our history is violent, the french and indian war, american revolution, war of 1812, civil war, spanish - american war, ww1, ww2, korea, cold war, Vietnam, Lebanon, Beirut, panama, and on to the more recent events of Kosovo, Somalia , desert storm, Afghanistan, and this latest war we're still in. All that violence can't just go away, it will always be a part of our society. I don't think that violence has increased, it is just the media reports it more.

Because this nation was originally populated by religious fanatics so violently Christian that they were expelled from their own countries to colonize "the New Land". Naturally, being good Christians, their first order of business was to kill the indigenous population. This was so successful they believed killing in the name of Jesus was the answer to all their problems.

There was also the oppression of King George, which we solved by killing in the name of Freedom and Democracy and breaking free from England. Not trusting Government, we made up the Bill of Rights, the first of which is the right to free speech, free practice of religion, and freedom of the press. Our Founding Fathers, being intelligent theists and realizing that the ignorant masses would elect the lowest common denominator from among themselves, probably mostly violent Christians, and having suffered the abuses of Government for many years, knew that an unarmed population was easy prey to Government oppression and made sure, with the Second Amendment, that we all had the right to defend ourselves from Government abuse.

This idea of using violence to solve problems goes back to the very earliest Christian revolts in Rome when Christians killed non-Christians by the thousands, and, in turn, were also slaughtered in large numbers. Inquisitions and Crusades set wonderful problem-solving precedents. Even the Christian savior was required to be tortured and crucified violently in order to fulfill his mission. This really is only an extension 0f the Hebrew method of killing cities full of people with whom they disagreed, theologically speaking. You might say they were the original terrorists. And we revere the Bible in which their disgusting wholesale massacres of men, women and children (not to mention camels, cows and dogs) are chronicled.

In modern America, the phenomonon of Day Care, where strangers raise our children so both parents can work has dissolved the bonds of family so necessary to acheiving critical developmental milestones. This leaves children and young adults uncertain as to their place in society - a society where our television extolls the virtues of problem-solving with high caliber weapons.

Our nation's economy is based on war and has been since the Civil War, which was fought over the right to own other human beings. The United States has not been conflict free since that time because the true rulers of this country profit mightily from all the manufacturing and no-bid contracts that permeate such perversions. We are a culture that glorifies war and memorializes death to the point of adoration. Look at our monuments - they are breakng ground today for a memorial to remember the Columbine slaughter. Violence is an integral weave in the fabric of American life. It is considered entertainment to be watched nightly in our living rooms via the most powerful communication tool known to humanity.

Combine all this with artificial crimes such as gambling, drug sale/ use, and prostitution, which keep our anxiety levels high, as well as condoning systematic violence against the underclasses and women, and you have a recipe for conscienceless violence not even seen in ancient Rome where te citizens were at least protected by the law enforcers rather than what we have now in America - law enforcement is its own club where the members can act with impunity to deprive persons of their rights, property, and lives with little consequence. This is the toxic environment in which American children are raised.

Why are we so violent? Because we still honor our original colonists' Puritan Ethic - we work hard at it

Main reason from what I have read, our government wants it that way. WHY? Imagine, a society without crime, a society that can govern itself thru understanding, trust, tolerance of each other color and religion. You follow whats next? YES, no need for Police, FBI, CIA, NSA, no need for government politicians.

Our country is not different then running a company. If the company becomes to efficient, there is no need for a CEO. The same goes for our country, we would not need to have alot of institutions that we have created to control the problems our own government created long ago with the pretest of protecting us, when in reality those institutions were created to bring and create fear so that we become dependent on them to solve our daily problems.

Quick example: Why do we have hospitals? to cure the diseases we create. For instance if we feed more junk food to our population What happens? we have more obese people, in turn, more insurance claims, more jobs for hospitals, more earnings for investors of medicine manufacturers, more earnings for manufacturers of junk food, more taxes for our government, and kick backs to our representatives. Another one, education for instance, we teach the wrong kind of subjects at school, we dont teach our kinds to think but to do, public school education was planed to be of the poorest quality to keep people down. So what happens when someone can not afford to buy something? They recurred to robbery, asault, and then they get arrested, processed in our police stations, put in jail, put in our court systems, and then the cycle repeats. So again, why do we have violence? Because our government wants it that way!!! because violence is PROFIT no matter which way you see it.

not properly disciplining kids or showing them enough love - kids need BOTH to grow up decent, and a lot of them don't get either

too much poverty/unemployment

lack of self control (partially caused by the "instant gratification" mindset)

not enough caring about each other

too much focus on sex in society (this sure doesn't do anything to lower the amount of rapes)

widespread low self esteem - ppl often think being violent proves they're somehow better than others

hopelessness due to growing up in bad situations without good role models - they think they won't be able to accomplish anything legally, so they do it illegally

heavy drug use and/or alcoholism

joining gangs due to feeling like they don't fit in anywhere else (also goes back to a lot of the above mentioned reasons)

I think because we do not have strict enough consequences when crimes are committed. Because we let people out of jail early due to overcrowding. because it is to easy to get a gun!!!
Because computers and video games babysit our children!! Because we have to have 2 incomes so kids are not spending enough quality time with parents to learn right from wrong & are not properly punished for doing things wrong. I love living in the USA but we have major issues!!

Watch Bowling For Columbine. It has allot to do with this topic.

Americans are raised by tv, with no parental guidence. We have no positive role models left, only violent people. We are bread for violence.
