i dont want to create a new email id but all i want to do is to alter my id....like changing 1 or 2 letters in the id.how do i do that??

This is similar to changing to a new apartment or new house on the same street...
Your mail needs to know where to go and so does the mail man...
Now with email the email needs the right address also, so you will have to create a new email address and then send out all new letters to all on your list or they wont know where to write to you and the mail will get bounced...

You can't. Email accounts are complex, and can't be changed. This is also to help with the fact that you would have to tell everybody you know your "new" address.

You'll have to make a completely new account. No way around it, unless you have direct access to the database storing your email address. But I'm assuming you're talking about Yahoo Mail, in which case, you will not ever, at any time, have access to the database.
