You are normal. If this were abnormal, your mother would be taking you to the doctor. In the beginning, periods can be very irregular. In fact, they can be this way throughout your teens. When I was younger, mine came between 25 and 35 days apart once they got going. In the very beginning (I was 11), they were even more sporadic.
Have your mother buy you a book about the changes your body is going through to help you know what to expect and why everything is happening the way that it is. Not only will this make you feel better, it will also give you a point of reference to know when something is NOT normal and when you should go to a doctor.

If you're really thin, your low body fat percentage will make your periods more irregular. If not, it may still take a year for it to get on a normal schedule. Mine was really light and irregular when I started; I didn't even need a tampon most of the time. Often it was just spotting and I could wear just a pantyliner. If you still don't feel good about it, go to a doctor for a professional opinion.

Menarche is another name for the beginning of menstruation. In the United States, the average age a girl starts menstruating is 12. However, this does not mean that all girls start at the same age. A girl can begin menstruating anytime between the ages of 8 and 16. Menstruation will not occur until all parts of a girl's reproductive system have matured and are working together.

No, your mom is right. When you're 12, it's normal if the period is irregular, because the body didn't really adjust its self jet. But after about 4 years, you'll see that it comes very regularly.

You are completely normal, I didn't start having a period until I was almost 13 (like 3 days before my birthday!), and I had friends that started even later than that. I know it sucks when it seems like you are the only one that doesn't have one yet, but I promise it will come soon enough. And after a while you will probably wish it hadn't! :) Good luck to you, and don't worry.

Girl... i didn't get my period until this year and i'm 16! i saw a genecolist and she said until the age of 18 it's normal not to get your period for the first time. My mom was worried too, but thats what mom do. Just be lucky you don't have it yet... cause it really sucks.

It is normal for when girls start their period for it to be irregular. And I didn't get my period until I was 13, so don't feel like you're abnormal because you haven't gotten it yet.

It is normal. As long as you get your period through the ages o 9-18 you are fine. It will then take about three years for your period to regulate itself.

No, its normal. Your period is supposed to be irregular at the beginning. Your body needs to adjust to it thats why it is irregular. Thats how mine was when i first got it. Trust me its not great it sucks hope that helps.
