There are several excellent ways. Here's what I would suggest.
Find someone who is well situated in life who may have a valuable piece of art or something else of excellent high value that they would donate to the church for an auction.
Tell the person not only will they be publicly thanked for this but they will also receive a charitable donation receipt. This means they can claim this donation against their taxes at the end of the year.
Announce the auction on the radio and everywhere you can. Most radio stations should allow the announcement for free since the church is a non-profit organization. Aloow for several weeks of advertising so you build up a lot of interest in the auction. perhaps announce that a mystery celebrity will conduct the auction and find someone well-known or famous to conduct the auction. Keep it a secret to the very minute the auction begins!
Don't hold the auction at the church but find a large building with plenty of chairs, like a school, where the auction can be held.
Pick a good time for the auction. Sunday afternoon after church would be a great time.
I think this might help you. Good luck.

You must have some very creative people in your church who could provide unique, one-of-a-kind articles for a spectacular art sale. It may take a little longer to plan than your run-of-the-mill rummage sale but it will be well worth the effort. Make sure you have a ton of publicity. Don't forget to include your teens and grade school kids. Some of them are very talented. Especially when it's for such a good cause. Use the kids to draw pictures to be used in your advertising. Ask God to bless your endeavor. For all of this is to His glory. He gave us the gifts we have. What better way to say thank you than to create something that will allow you to purchase a larger building in which to worship Him!!
In our church we have some very talented artists, photographers, those who knit and crochet, etc.

What a lot of churches do is host a festival, sell dinner tickets, hold a raffle, have a silent auction, and have all the dinner and auction items donated from members of the parish. You can also go to nearby businesses and ask if they will donate items or restaurant meal passes to the silent auction. Then advertise the festival all over town.

First all the adds and commercials are all a way of getting you to lie one or the other. They are both saying bad things about both canidates. The only bad thing about Mccain's $5000 medical plan is that yeah it is plenty for some one who is healthy not for someone who is in and out of the doctors. And if you know they are raising taxes on people who make 250,000 a year or more. So if you make that much your taxes will go up. And they will go up for any company who ships jobs over seas.

Here's a novel idea for a Christian church needing a bigger building...hold additional services and use the building fund to help others in need. How many church buildings did Jesus construct? or even ask to be built?

get people interested and involved. place add asking for donations explaning what the money will be used for, which may i add there is no greater purpose than building a house for the lord. some company's will donate for a tax write off. most of all pray about it, and it will certainly come to your mind ,a way for God to have his will be done. No mans answer is better than the Lord our Jesus Christ"s .

I raised over 500 dollars in amonth by holding a "walk a thon"
We called it the journey, and walked 15 miles in one day from the neighboring town back to ours. We went around and asked for donations for a mission trip to nicaragua for us doing this. It was really fun, and we all learned something rom it.
