Possibly. They are finding that MMR wears off over time. Ask your pediatrician or family doctor to give your son a blood test to verify his continued immunity.

I had this test done when I was in my early 20s and pregnant with my first child. That was how I found out I had no immunity to rubella and would need another MMR vaccination after I delivered.

Generally though, MMR immunity is more of a concern for females since infection during pregnancy has the potential for fetal deformity.

He will need another tetanus immunization soon though - those should be done every 10 years. (As I found out when I was bitten by a black widow and went into anaphylaxis.)

Definately tell him now. He should be involved in this all the way. Just because you may view him as a kid doesn't mean he doesn't understand things. This is his little sibling here, you want him to feel connected before this little boy or girl comes into the world. He'll want to help out and care for them etc. The more involved he is the better, you don't want to alienate him or make him feel like the baby is more important. That's what sometimes happens with younger kids. So just try to involve him, let him know what's happening (well not every little detail lol but you know in an educational way) and you will feel closer as a family and he will be excited to have a sibling.

Nope he doesn't need another, as previously said girls are given it to prevent either diseases during prenancy and harming the baby.
