All I got to that was lists of why Christian music isn't terrible. But it clearly is! I just want to know WHY because (stubborn me) I've already decided the IF.
So I had to take this to the musicians' place. Please help!

You're advocating Stryper????!!!!!??? of all the camped up piffle - but I'll admit they can play their instruments. At the last check they were more religious than the Pope.

Very simple answer. And it has nothing to do with it being a Christian band. Well... Almost nothing.
See, the whole point of Christian music is to spread a message. The message is the foremost thing they work on.
The music itself is secondary. And whenever you create a song with an agenda, your sound is never going to live up to that agenda.

As a Christian who doesn't listen to "Christian" music, I can only offer my perspective. It's bad for the same reason that most top 40 music is bad; the standard that they adhere to is simply too low. Christian artists, like top 40 artist, are not trying to appeal to a sophisticated or choosy audience, but more to the bubble-gum loving lowest common denominator. If you are older or deeper than the average 16 year old, then you are not their target demographic.
I would argue that there are good Christian artists, the same way that a group with actual talent will sometimes show up in the top 40. It's not that there aren't good ones at all, just that there aren't enough of them for you to notice.

it's bizzare. These peolple are singing about their creator for goodness sake. Surely there should be know greater passion, but they can't seem to get it right. I have heard some dance stuff that was recorded by some christians that sounded all right till i got to the words. Perhaps that the feeling behind the song is so distasteful for a lot of people that it carries through in the music.

I'm sorry, but you're never going to get a serious answer to that question! Most people are just going to defend their favorite Christian rock bands to the bitter end.
I don't know why. I think it's one of those strange anomalies that no one can explain.

Christian music is being sung to God, not to man. If you don't like it, it's because (hate to break this to you) you're not God. The Bible says to make a joyful shout to the Lord- it never mentions the varieties of chords or musical genius that needs to be involved. Christian songs don't need your approval because they are not for your listening pleasure, but to praise God.

That's unfair. Haven't you ever heard this Christian song:
"I want to get down on my knees
And start pleasing Jesus,
I want to feel his salvation
All over my face"
(Eric Cartman)
