Instead of holding the ball with the regular fastball grip you turn it to a two seam fast ball grip and rotate it a litlle so you are only holding one of the seams. This will give you a fastball that will explode down and in towards a RH batter if you are a RH pitcher and opposite if you are a lefty.

There are several versions of the cut fastball. The basic idea is to throw a fastball but get a slight amount of side spin that makes the ball move in or out a few inches. You do this by moving your fastball grip (usually the 4-seam fastball grip) slightly off-center. Some pitchers bring the thumb slightly up the inside of the ball and the index and middle fingers slightly toward the outside. This gives you a pitch somewhere between a fastball and a slider, and, thrown properly, that's how the pitch will move, like a very tight slider.

Perhaps the pitcher that throws one of the best cut fastballs is Mariano Rivera. It's what I call his money pitch.

I have the best cutter in my HS league, what I do is I put it in the 2 seam grip, put my fingers together and apply more pressure with my middle finger, this causes the movement. I use a strong wrist flick when delivering. My K pitch.
