DO NOT PLACE THIS PLAM IN DIRECT SUN...IT WILL BURN ALL THE FRONDS TO BITS AND MAY WELL KILL THE TREE.Young majesty palms need shade, annot stand sun until they are older. If you palm leaves not open, the tree may be diseased. Place outdoors in shade, keep damp, and if it doesn't take off, discard and get a new one. Good luck

Keep in mind that majesty palms are not the best indoor plants. They need high light levels to grow well and keep from turning brown. You also need to check the soil to prevent drying, and use a palm fertilizer to provide the nutrients needed for growth.

Perhaps the best idea is to move the palm outdoors (if it's not already) to a sunny location where you can water frequently as the surface soil begins to dry. Also apply a palm fertilizer monthly to the surface of the soil or use a slow-release palm fertilizer following label instructions. Your palm should reward you with plenty of green fronds.

You don't state if the palm is in a pot or the ground. You might have to fertilise it regularly and water often. It must be growing if it has new shoots.

I think it needs better nutrients in the soil. Throw your left-over dry tea leaves around it. Compost!
