If, as reports seem to indicate, that carbon emitions from fossil fuels (gas, oil, coal etc) are causing unpredictable global warming and unpredictable weather conditions, then will should consumers in the modern world embrace elctronic vehicles more enthusiastically? Also if carbon emitions are globally acknowledged as the cause, will this mean a cap or even a ban on air travel?? After all, who would entirely trust an entirely electric 737??!!

NO!! As long as they set up stations every 200 miles and they
don't wear out faster than gasoline powered cars.

I think they are still a bit poo at the moment as they rely on batteries. The arrival of affordable Hydrogen fuel cars will make the electric engine much more practical. It'll be a while yet though.

The problem with electric cars is it takes twice the amount of electricity into to the battery to charge it. Therefore it is polluting where the electricity is produced rather than through the street. It takes a load of electricity to move the batteries themselves (a load of them, each very heavy) without even moving the car.

Plus there is no infrastructure to charge the batteries. Could you imagine trying to move 10 car batteries up 20 floors to charge them in your flat.

They are a link in the chain rather than the answer.

They aren't going to ban air travel. That's idiotic.

And I think fully electric cars are quite an interesting idea. I'm getting bored with modifying gasoline engines, plus I have experience with modifying electric RC car motors. I think I'll have a really good time trying to make an E-Car go really fast.
