I'm asking who makes the Wal-Mart store brand items--Sam's Coice, great value, etc.

This kind of information is typically not public as Walmart doesn't want competitors to use the same parties that make their private brands.

But I'm sure that in most cases, it's the same companies that make the national brands. It's a pretty common practice, Kellogg's does this with cereals. But because these are processed food items, they can't really go overseas to obtain them like they would hard goods.

Wal-Mart uses various vendors for food product, and they routinely use close market supply , meaning the distribution centers will more often carry regional brands of like products. Ex: West of the rockies you will find "Best Foods" brand mayonaise, while in the mid-south (and east) it is called "Hellman's" - same company , different label.

It's a local thing, but U.S. Foodservice is a common provider.
