hm. I made the switch about two months ago. Just install firefox, make it the default browser, and it will import all your explorer settings.
Firefox has great features, including:
1)faster page load times.
2)open multiple pages in different tabs.
3)all search engines are on the upper taskbar(google, jeeves, etc)
4)more advanced user settings, like favorites easier to use, etc.
I was amazed, and they have a good customer support.
After you install, it will take you to the FAQ page, and walk you thru how to use this amazing browser.
I promptly removed my IE and haven't looked back since.

After downloading it did you run the install program? If yes, then it should open when you click on the icon. You may have to go to Start > All Programs > then click on the Firefox icon to open it.
Once it is open you can set your preferences. It is an excellent program. Hope you can get it up and running.
Enjoy.

install it. fire fox is less prone to allowing in spyware and malware. it has a built in popup stopper and has tabbed browsing. if for instance you are shopping and want to compare two items. click on file and then new tab. there will be a new page easily accessible at the top of the one you are on. you can switch back and forth without needing to open a new ie browser window.
