i don't think so!
just think of what it would take, to fit such a complex story, into 2 hours of a live show.
i don't think it would be practical, there is no stage in any theater that's big enough for such a large and demanding set.
I've worked on the Sound for a couple of Broadway shows, and i do off-Broadway shows all the time, so from a sound engineering perspective, it can be done(provided of course that their budget allows for it).
but looking at the staging logistics, and the storyline, its not very practical.

It turns out that if it was a theater production of "The :Lord of the Rings" would have to be a success to cover all the cost of costumes and even the sets, that has to be used. It probably has been done in Toronto on its way to Broadway in New York City, so, the cost would be enormous to cover all the staging prices that would eventually bankrupt the Disney Corporation in order to stage all of the "The Lord of The Rings" books.

YES
I'd love to see the goblin wars on stage!
it would be a stage makeup fiasco!
