The best, most widely used, and most validated tests used to measure IQ are administered by trained psychologists. Tests available through websites like tickle.com generally have not been well studied or carefully validated to see if they measure what they claim to measure.

IQ is so subjective...
I usually score very high... but... it's because I'm a good test taker, and I "collect" the kinds of questions that are often asked.
IQ seeks to measure how people respond to NEW situations. Anything else isn't INTELLIGENCE... its MEMORIZATION.
So... the trick becomes... How do you continue to come up with NEW QUESTIONS. Also... that's why if you take the same, or same TYPE of IQ test... you'll likely do better on the subsequent tries.
TICKLES.COM is one of the easiest test I've ever taken... so I'd say it will give you an artificially HIGH result.
I hope this helps.

No, they are generally not accurate. Almost everyone I know who takes an internet IQ test scores 135 or better. A score this high on an authentic IQ test is very rare. If you want an accurate assessment of your IQ, you need to see a psychologist, who can administer an individual IQ test, such as one of the Wechsler scales.

I would place very liitle, if any, validity upon online IQ tests.
It is important to have a trained individual present the test in a structured environment.
Also, there are a multitude of variables that can actually determine the outcome of a test. For example, a child that has not had a good breakfast, a sick child (flu, cold, headache), or a child who has had a recent death in his/her family, any of these can change the outcome of even a structured test.

I don't think they are correct. I took a couple of them on the net and scored about 10 points higher than my real IQ which was administered by a psychologist for a job.

Absolutely not! IQ tests have to be proctored. Omline stuff could be the work of any number of respondents. say 10 people take turns answering 2 questions each. that would say nothing about any of them. moreover, even individual test takers would have little incentive to work very hard to come up with the right answer. The variables are endless, and un-controlled. Those tests you refer to have zero validity or reliability, and are for fun only. BTW, what is the square root of pi?

I don't know, but I like the one on tickle because it scored me over 130! IQ tests can be subjective- some of them are very mathematically based and require knowledge of advanced formulas that someone without a math background would be unable to answer. I don't equate knowledge with intelligence...

I took two IQ tests on tickle.com and I got two completely different results, so I don't think that are reall correct, I think they are just to give you a general idea.

One person's abilities can't really be measured. Humans just created basic standards to label abilites. All of these are just plain hypothetical bullsh*t. What is important is that you know yourself and you know how to handle your abilities and you know where you stand with them.
