If you saw how long I spend on some of my answers you might think I must come from a different country according to your statement. (Or maybe you'd just think I was a bit slow witted? Ha ha!) But guess what, I'm a US citizen.
One of my humbling moments as a US citizen came when I was living in Japan. I was at a business meeting with Japanese, Australians, English, and a couple of US citizens. One of the Australians started doing an impression of US citizens. She started talking loudly, smiling broadly (showing a lot of teeth), and gesturing. I thought it was funny. The citizens from other countries thought it was even funnier. I might imagine the whole world enjoying such a joke on US citizens, but that would be another stereotype--on the other citizens of the world.
I think people will see what they want to see--especially if they are looking for it. For instance, "Is it true that Americans answer immediately, without giving it much to think about?"
It's easier for people to think in stereotypes. People think like that to make sense of their world. I'm not saying it's a terrible thing. However, they may be missing interaction with people they might actually enjoy spending time with. Such separation doesn't bring the world closer to peace. It's also rather lonely and boring don't you think?

No, it is not true. Some Americans actually do think before answering questions.
May I also state that not ALL Americans are rude, snobby, or nasty in the manner in which they treat others from other countries!
I am from the U.S., not really proud to be American right now because of what is going on. I treat each person as if they are no different then I. Unless they are rude to me, I am not rude to them. I have met a lot of people from other countries selling at fleamarkets and 90% of them greet me with a smile and I do the same when I see them.
Wished that people from other countries would keep in mind that what the govenment does is not totally controlled by the people as it should be.

I believe in a bunch of American stereotypes...The Americans I have met are bossy, stuck up, and dogmatic so I wouldn't put it pass them to just say an answer just to be the first one to get to answer said question....But I'm not sure.

I tend to think about the question before answering.
You are stereotyping.

I give a lot of thought to my answers, And I do not answer questions unless I am sure that I know the answer.

It's a stereotype, but like most stereotypes you will find plenty who do.

I think that its just a sterotype because answering w/out thinking is just someones personality, and the way they are and everyone is different.

it depends on the question asked, a serious question requires patience and thought , but "Hows the weather?" I am sure you get the point.
God Bless
