On the brand new Macs ( http://www.apple.com ) you can. You can on the older ones too with extra software.

Recently, Apple switched from Motorola processors to Intel. For this reason, the hardware can now run Windows natively. The BIOS is incompatible with Windows (for now at least) but the next version of Windows will support the new BIOS configuration which should obviate the need for the extra software currently needed to run Windows.

This is NOT an emulation package. There have been emulators for the Mac for some time but their performance generally sucks and not all Windows apps will run on the emulator since they involve system level calls that can't be translated between the Motorola 68x and Intel x86 architectures.

mac has always been able to run virtual pc or windows..newer mac with dual core run windows in NATIVE format with no emulator

The difference tween computer are processors, a programmed operating system use virtually same code; the only difference is that the operating system need to be recompiled for a specific processor..

This is the reason why you have Linux operating system today.. as well I would not see the true purpose of running windows on a mac.. you would expose your computer to viruses..

Also new Mac comes with X11, a remote application that ENHANCE the abililities of MAC OS X (darwin) which can call applications and desktop from LINUX servers the size of a FOOT ball FIELDs.. this make a mac capabilities virtually unlimited. Linux software is so developed , you could find mathematic application and calculator that can allow developer to virtually program SPATIAL rockets andall of this for free.

Apple parted from the old mac os to a Unix/Linux like operating system virtually for two three reasons:

* Unix/Linux handles multiprocessors better
* Greater portability and compatibility for software developers
as software only need to be recompiled.
* Cheaper cost to develop a more reliable software
*

If a person cannot afford a Mac, it should at least install a distribution of Linux for their PCs, it is at least way more secure than windows and way less emcombered.. plus all applications are virtually free..

also it auto update for free too. so?

There is a program called pc emulator that can be installed on a mac and allow it to run pc programs. However be aware that it's a slow acting program.

It's the real deal. However, it's a one-way street. You can't run OSX on a Windows PC (i.e., Dell, Gateway, etc.)
