two medicines are injected directly into the knee for osteoarthritis
1.coricosteroids that are basically depot(long term ) painkillers and 2.joint lubricants (hyalase) -the latter is of doubtful value especially in advanced cases

please feel free to contact me if you wish - i need further info for a full diagnosis.

The shots in the knee are normally a steroidal injection with a numbing medicine mixed in. All the steroids do for your joint is lubricate it for a little while and then you have to go back and get another one. The 3 shot series sounds good, BUT, having too many of the injections is also detrimental to the area being injected...in short it can harm you more in the long run.

I had the individual cortisone shot and had the synvics shot. My meniscus was ripped very badly and a tear in my ACL. To complicate things, I have arthritis in my left knee. The three series shots have taken the swelling away and the pain. For how long…I don't know, but I am comfortable now with what the 3 shots have done for me. It has been 6 weeks since I started the shots, so we will see how it goes week by week.
