Because there are Muslim extremist that would use that kind of power against anyone that doesn't believe in their faith.
Instead of using C4 or Dyamite to kill a market full of innocent people, they could use a nuclear weapon to take out an entire country which Iran has already threatened it would do so to Israel once it obtained the technology.
It's like giving a temper tantrum toddler a loaded gun.....
