Nope, that's oldfashioned thinking.

A man should earn enough so that if he's sharing expenses with a wife or girlfriend that she isn't taking care of everything. It doesn't matter who makes more, as long as both contribute fairly.

No. If a man feels emasculated because his female partner makes more money, that's his dilemma. It stems from a lack of confidence in other areas of life. Someone who can't find other ways to be supportive depends on being the primary wage earner to bolster their position in the relationship. Men tend to be afraid that they are going to be treated the way they treat the other member of the relationship if things change in this way. I don't want to generalize by including all men, because there are a great many who aren't bothered in the least by the disparity. The ones who are, in my opinion, need to reevaluate their image of self.

No, I do not feel the man should be the sole bread winner. Life is a partnership, is that is what you choose. You should share everything....including the income. If you are with a women that wants you to earn more than she does...dump her as I believe she is selfish. If she is capible of working...she should be.

If a man is waiting around on a girl that makes less than him, it's possible he's passing up a heck of a woman! So long as each person can support their half of the joint finances, nobody cares anymore how much he or she makes.

I don't think that most men make less than women, usually it is the other way around, but I think as long as both are contributing to the budget of what is being paid out, it's not a problem

Why? I can see why men usually get the higher paying rate...believe it or not there are still some men out there who want to do the right thing and support their family. I guess I'm just content with raising kids and running a household. It is hard work if you do it "right" and would be validating.

No - either party will hopefully work in their chosen field, which may or may not pay more than their partner. A female engineer will make more than a landscaper, but if each one is happy and fulfilled, that will carry over to their relationship.

Some mens ego get crushed when this happens, I would say it depends on the man and I would think better of the man that wasn't bothered by it.
