No age requirement. But you can't sign legal documents if you are not of legal age - 18 or 21 depending on the state. Minors need to have their parents or legal guardians sign legal documents for them suxh as business registration.
I recommend the following books on entrepreneurship geared for the young people:
- The Young Entrepreneur's Edge : Using Your Ambition, Independence, and Youth to Launch a Succesful Business (Princeton Review Series) -- by Jennifer Kushell
- The Young Entrepreneur's Guide to Starting and Running a Business : NEW: Use the Internet to jump-start your company; Find out where the money is... and ... ideas, from pet care to public relations; -- by Steve Mariotti
- Upstart Start-Ups!: How 34 Young Entrepreneurs Overcame Youth, Inexperience, and Lack of Money to Create Thriving Businesses by Ron Lieber
- Better Than a Lemonade Stand: Small Business Ideas for Kids (Kid's Books By Kids) by Daryl Bernstein
- How to be a Teenage Millionaire by T.R. Adams

18 is the age for signing legal documents. You can be a business owner AND operator at any age really, but if under 18 you need adults to handle most of the legal end. Since you are 21, sign away and give your all.

I think there is no right age to become a business owner, although if one is underaged, the company will be managed by a guardian and its funds under a trustee. As long as you have the capital and know exactly what business you want to go into, then go for it but a feasibility study should be done first on the viability of the business especially if it will require a huge capital. But if it's only a small business or home-based business requiring not much manpower but yourself or family members, then there is no need to make it more complicated for yourself. Good luck!

I'd be shocked if your concern is well-founded, but then again I have no knowledge one way or the other. There are at least two obvious ways to get better answers than from the folks here: 1. Ask at your college. You can ask a professor, counselor, career counselor, person in charge of the elementary education program etc. 2. Talk to schools. Call the principal at a school you might be interested in working for. Call the Board of Education. There is little sense in worrying about it. Ask! If you do well in school and present yourself well, you'll likely be an excellent candidate.

Sure. As a matter of fact, you can own your own online business quite easily. Great site and ideas. I bought a couple of the ebooks and put it into motion and now I'm seeing results.
