Are you talking about implantation bleeding? Some people experience this, and some people don't. It's definitely not necessary. I never had any during either of my pregnancies.

Yes, the spotting that i think you are rererring to (implantation bleeding) does not happen to everyone, and definitely is not "important to have".

it's better that you don't spot while you are pregnant. Spotting during pregnancy can be a sign of preterm labor.

i never spotted when i got pregnant with my girls, but thats just me everyone's different. Basically its optional!
