It doesn't just hurt the first time it hurts every time!!
I'd go to a salon for the first few times to pick up as many tips as poss, but please hunni, try self-waxing on a smaller area first!
Trying to do your legs when your a wax virgin is being a bit of an optimist!
Try a small area on your arm, or if you have a bit of fuzz on your top lip/fingers etc practice them first.
Just remember the golden rules.....
The wax has to be hot enough to stay runny, but not so hot it burns you (i wouldnt bother with the pre-wax covered strips....not as good as pots of wax)
Remember to pull the strip AGAINST the direction of the hair growth i.e leg hair grows down, so pull upwards.
Pull the strip off as flat as you can get it to your skin, if you pull out away from your skin you risk bruising, keep it parralel!!
Right before you pull the strip use your other hand to pull the skin taught, and as you pull, pull quickly and put some strength in! Also take a sharp breath in as you pull
Afterwaxing, apply a gel or cream for post-waxing, or use aftersun, or something with aloe vera or teatree in
Good luck!!!

To do it yourself takes a lot of determination. If you have never waxed before, it may be best for you to try a salon first. You can ask questions and get a better understanding of the procedure and to see how they cool down the skin afterwards to prevent pain and discomfort.
Good Luck!

the veet stuff doesn't work that well despite it's claims. find a salon where the therapists get waxed themselves. don't be afraid to ask questions and go somewhere else if they don't put you at ease. waxing will hurt the first time so take a couple of painkillers half and hour before you go.

Wax strips do not work. Neither does Nads. Neither do those roll on waxers.
Go to a salon, or stick with shaving.

Have you tried Nair? A cream to smooth on and rinse off? I still prefer the old fashioned way of shaving. It's much less expensive although hubby yells at me for using his razor. Waxing? OUCH
