I strongly agree with you! I don't really like Reality TV either! What is the reality that they are trying to show? It's just the same as acting. So yeah, no point in wasting money, creating a reality tv programmes. After all, people like reality tv because of the drama in it. Well, might as well just watch a drama right? Pure entertainment~

There is no reality to a reality show --- it's all a premise played out by people wanting money and attention. About the only thing that ever came close to reality TV was "Candid Camera" back in the 1970s.
TV executives like reality TV because they're cheap to produce (no big salaries for professional actors, etc.) and by incorporating "real" people, they draw in audiences with the idea that they too, might compete some day or at least associate more with everyday types than celebrities.
Reality TV got its start back in the mid-1990s, when a number of actors unions were discussing walk-outs, etc. Salaries were the big thing. The executives, worried that such a walk-out could happen, began tinkering with the reality TV concept and voila! prime-time crap!

Sorry, no clue. Since what is on TV is in fact far from reality. Situations and competions are all staged. the only loose thread making these shows " reality" is there is no script, that I know of. But if that makes a reality show then the price is right is the longest running reality show I know of.

I think people always had that "voyeuristic" tendencies inbuilt. You know we want to know what our neighbours do in secret, bcause you might be doing something in secret.
Therefore we like the idea that we are seeing other humans but they can't see us. The fact that it's supposedly not scripted makes it a little bit more appealing that soapies.
That and the uncut versions at night with all the nudity. So perverted..but i guess it's only natural. And the tv stations are making bucket loads off the human nature of curiosity.

I think you should give it a chance. All you do Is watch gay Japanish movies. I mean come on, who wants to watch a movie that you cant understand what they are saying??? Like OMFG, there are so many great movies out there. Like BIG Ben and Little Johnny, or Fudge-Packin for Life. You just have to get out and live man.

I know I totally agree-it's pointless and shows how much creatiivity we have left: very little. It's degrading and boring, I don't like it. but people seem to...maybe it's like a fantasy world for them. or maybe they'rej ust stu pid. or maybe there's just nothing else to keep them busy.

I like them because you don't really have to watch them too closely. I can do other things while they are on....wash the dishes, prepare meals, answer Yahoo questions, read the newspaper. If you miss something, it's no big deal.
