If I'm selling my laptop, then someone wants to buy it, then should I receive the money first before shipping my laptop to the buyer? How do I receive the money? thru credit card or paycheck? Thanks. I'm planning to sell my dell inspiron laptop.

Okay. First things first. Register with eBay.
So, now you want to sell your laptop....take some pictures of it to upload to eBay and then pack it up and weigh it so you know how much to charge for shipping.
Go to the "Sell Your Item Form" on eBay and it will walk you through the listing process. Be sure to describe the laptop carefully and completely. If it has any problems, put that in your description, too. Be honest.
Start your opening bid at the lowest amount you are willing to accept, or put a reserve amount on it.
Add pictures, because they will sell your laptop better than your description (a picture is worth a 1,000 words, right?).
After the auction ends, you ask the buyer to mail you a postal money order or a cashiers check for payment. If you have a Paypal account set up, they can also pay you through Paypal. Whatever you do, do not ship the computer until you have the money in hand.
I have some eBay auction tips 'n tricks on my website:

Check it out. There are links here to help you calculate shipping, etc. Good luck & have fun!

Its easy dude. Just read the FAQ on selling on ebay. Sell it to a reliable person who has a good rating on ebay. It should be safe though there are no guarantees.

Always get your money first before shipping the product. the most reliable way of receiving money on ebay auctions is to get a PayPal account. it's linked directly to your checking account, so people pay you through their account and it sits in your online account until you choose to transfer it back to your checking account. payments are immediate, unless they pay you with a pending check and then it can take up to 10 days to clear through their bank. people can either pay directly from their account or they can use a debit card or credit card to pay through PayPal. it's the only payment method that I accept when I sell through ebay. I used to take money orders and cash, but it was a hassle and sometimes they got lost.

What you can do is set up a accout with paypal and they can pay that away or they can mail money order or personal check but, DO NOT SHIP TILL THE MONEY ORDER OR PERSONAL CHECK CLEARS. With paypal the money goes in a account and you can transfer to your bank or have them mail you a check that takes a few days. But the down fall to paypal is it will charge you for someone sending you money. and charge u for taking money it is owned by EBAY. I sell on ebay and I Have a good time doing it. Thanks and good luck

I never sold, but I bought. It worked well for me. Shipping was a little bit much but I got the Pfaltzgraff
dishes I always wanted and couldn't find. Only bad thing was the newspaper they were wrapped in smelled a lot like smoke, but that came out in the dishwasher.

Check out E-Bay University, or the FAQ section. After you have sold it you will want to get the money first. (if it is a check or money order you will want to wait 10 days to make sure it clears your bank) Then you will ship your product. I recommend using PayPal to get your money, but I think they charge a small fee too.
