You ARE sweet to be so worried, although I haven't found anything to relieve horrible cramps. When I was younger I got extrememe cramps that would have me punching my stomach and rolling. I used to get so sick I would throw up also. Now I still get sick and get those bad cramps, but I rarely throw up. I would like to know what helps. The pain gets so bad sometimes I can't hardly think. I take Ibprofen, but I have to take like 6 (regular strength) pills before I feel any relief, and still I feel pain.

Depends on what is causing the cramps. If they are menstral related, Ibuprofen works best. If they are severe and in the lower abdomen, it could be Appendicitis and you should have it checked out immediately. It could also be from something she ate, and be food poisining. As long as the patient does not get dehydrated they will be allright. If cramps continue, go to the E.R. and have her white count checked and then they can tell you if it's Appendicitis.

You're sweet to be concerned.
A hot bath is great.
A heating pad on the abdomen works pretty good.
Ibuprofen.
She should also not just lie there...it works wonders to go do something...take a walk, be active in some way.
Run a hot bath with some lavender bubble bath, and then after she's soaked, take her for a walk in the park.
Make sure she stays away from caffeine, too.

IBUPROFEN IBUPROFEN IBUPROFEN

NOT TYLENOL WHICH IS ACETAMINOPHEN

Ibuprofen can be taken about two days before the next period begins and it will decrease the severity of cramps. This is because it blocks the production of prostaglandin, a chemical produced by the body which is associated with cramps and inflammation.

Mine were so bad at one point that my doctor put me on the pill and thankfully I dont get cramps anymore. If her cramping is extreme and ibuprofen does not help, tell her to go see a gyno.

Drink a lot of water. Most cramps are caused by tightness, drinking water helps soften everything inside the body. Most people do not drink enough water.

Well, it's good that you want to help your friend.
Chocolate is always good. Give her a nice cup of hot chocolate. With whipped cream on top. I think the chocolate will help her feel better, and the warmth from the drink will help too.
Activity also helps. Go for a walk with her. Just explain that it will make her feel better if she doesn't want to.

In the stomach? I had a pal who was a einginer in the middle east and he said that we'd best stand on a cold stone floor with noting on our feet. He'd been out there long enough to know his stuff.
