Not to the obssessive degree that was present in the earlier decades. You can tell by just looking at more mothers working. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it's a given that when someone works long hours at the office, they won't be as attentive when at home. So mothers don't get to spend most of the day with their kids, then come home to spend the little energy left with them. Not just mothers but i think EVERYONE is becoming more and more egocentric, and therefore the sacrificing nature is slowly fading out.

I would do anything for my children. I'd do anything to get them what they needed and I'd do anything to keep them safe. I love my boys, they are my world. I have had to go without food just so my child had food...I've gone without personal things just so my son had the things he needed like diapers and food and such. I've made a lot of sacrifices for my children and would make more in a heartbeat if I had to.

Now about todays mothers, I don't know...I know that some would....but I know others that wouldn't.

you'd have to look an each mother individually. it's impossible to judge everyone like that. even in "the olden days" you had individual mothers who were not caring or supportive....some were horribly cruel and gave their children away just to get rid of them. perhaps we are more educated today and simply have higher expectations....?

I think th mothers today still love their children like that, but now and then there is some mothers that take their child for granted or abuse them.

Compared to Andrea Yates, Susan Smith and many more like them, I'm so glad I have a mother that wouldn't dare to do unspeakable things like that. And on that note, I'm going to call my mother and take her out for lunch and thank her for all she has done for me.
