I personally do, especially if you have young kids and it's happening at night. Most places have noise restriction levels so if it's a regular car passing by that always has the radio up you can actually call it in to your local police w/ a description, maybe step out and try to at least get a partial plate # too. Unfortunately though, if you live on a busy street and it's random cars about the only thing you can do is have the police set up a noise trap, similar to a speed trap.

You must live in my old neighborhood....that is why we moved, because it got so bad!!!! No joke. Only it wasn't just people driving by, it was our neighbors in their homes as well. When one of our kids was 2 weeks old (so we were all exhausted) it was Thanksgiving weekend and our neighbors actually left their stereo on at a very high noise level and were gone. It was horrible. We didn't realize until the next day that they were actually gone! So then we got the cops out there, and the cop said, "Well, what do you want me to do?" My husband said, "Go in there and turn it off!!!!" It was a horrible neighborhood and our neighbors in back and on both sides were like this. It really drove us crazy and definitely influenced our decision to move! Do like some of the others have suggested and find out what your cities noise ordinances are and then take action! FYI...we called out the cops one night at 2 am because music had been playing so loud for over an hour after we had gone over and talked to our neighbors. So the cop came, and the music was off for about 1 1/2 hours. Then at 3:30 am, they turned it on again. We were fuming. It was horrible. Well, later we found out that if the cops would have been called out again, it would have been a $500.00 fine for our neighbors. If we'd have know that, we'd have definitely called the cops out again.

It is rude. I have people do that all the time in my neighborhood. One time I had to call the police because some people across the street had a party and it spilled into the street and into my yard at 1:00 in the morning. Maybe I'm just getting old and my partying days are long gone, but it was very annoying since I was trying to get some zzz's on a Saturday night.

Yes, it's rude as hell. Why I can't they wear headphones and destroy their hearing without disturbing others?
Check to see if your town/city has a noise ordinance. If so, report it, and they can be pulled over and ticketed for excessive noise. If not, I'd buy a BB gun and have a little target practice...

u could try to take down the car no. and give it to the cops.
otherwise just wait for them another time and throw some nails in front of the car. then run back into the house n lock the doors.
(ps. just joking!)

Yes, but there's probably nothing that can be done unless it is causing a disturbance of the peace (which genrelaly means late at night).

yes, it is VERY rude, but i don't think there's much you can do, unless they are a neighbor you can talk to.
If it's one particular person all the time, you might be able to file a police report using their license number.
