use a protractor to establish the angle you desire, read that angle from the protractor's reference scale

depends on what pitch ur looking for on the finished roof.. get urself a " speed square" read the little booklet.....really good tool and not costly. under 20 bucks.

remember that shingle need to be on a 3/12 pitch or higher for warranty.

r u working over another roof that already installed?
