Ok, after seeing some of the questions posted on here, I have to ask:
1. Why don't young people today seem to know ANYTHING about sex other than how to do it?
2. Do you think the school system is doing a good job in sex ed classes?
3. Do you think parents are doing enough to teach their kids about pregnancy and STDs?

I don't need ignorant answers. But I think that maybe that will lead to a new question...How are schools failing to teach common sense?

yes...
but most school districts don't teach everything, due to cetrant concervitive parents/school boards (or just plain anal/control freaks/parents starerptypes that they're children will repeat the same stuff parinoid parents).
There are sex eds that do teach a veriety of stuff, such as abstance, safe sex, and other procotions to other types of sex for safe sex.
;-)
Why are some people still ignorant, well it's up to them to pay attention in class.
Parents need to do more (like be open minded), you'd rather have a young person prepared then to fall into something that they haven't been fully educated on. That way you run less of a risk hearing "Mom, I'm pregnant". "Mom/Dad I think I got something (STD)", or the stupid people who become addicted to sex or the werdos who just were deprived of everything logical about it.
You got to admit that someone can still get an STD even from a simple kiss, skin contact, and of course oral sex, and regular sex. There are safe practices for oral sex, but not all sex eds teach it so some youth think it's risk free. That's why they should be informed so they can make an informed decision.
BUT yes parents NEED to pick up the slack (and remeber to not assume that they're youth will not experiment, such as have premarital sex, or even have sexual relations with the same sex as them or not... you just can't assume anymore now-a-days so it's just best to teach them everything, half of the most homophobic people I've meet turn out to be denying their own sexuality b/c they have done or are thinking of doing something with the same sex their just to brainwashed to think that might be ok).
NEVER asume.
The earlyer the better (in education to keep them safe). My BF's little sister is having probs in Middle School... there's even 8 year old for some odd reason trying to have sex... some thing needs to be done and tooken seariously, for one they should at least be told it's unhealthy even more to do it before puberty... this is crazy...
::: Peace :::

1. Why don't young people today seem to know ANYTHING about sex other than how to do it?
People on yahoo Answers often ask the silly questions or the suggestive questions because they are young and very interested in sex. The most important thing to them is the sex act.
2. Do you think the school system is doing a good job in sex Ed classes?
Yes. Whether they should or not is up to the society of that school system. There are lots of points of view about this. The bottom line seems to be the AIDS epidemic and the unwed mother epidemic. Both are motivations for schools to try and do something to help.
3. Do you think parents are doing enough to teach their kids about pregnancy and STDs?
Depends on where you are. In some places kids think that sex should be put off until they are in their 20's. Others think they want to try it ASAP. The action in the culture depends on the safety net that is perceived by the young person. If they think that pregnancy is ok, and that pregnancy is a path to adulthood, and that it will be rewarded in some way by society, then they will do it. If the opposite is the case, they will not do it.

1) because the subject is sooo taboo in america nobody wants to talk about it
2)NO!!!!!!!!!
3)HAH!! i would be surprized if 25% of american parents actually talk to their kids about sex, let alone break it down to the point how to protect them selves.
look bottom line is that sex is a natural part of life and NO ONE should ever feel ashamed for having a sexual drive. people do need to talk about it more and in a more relaxed tone. all i hear is the two extremes of the spectrum. one the people who try to scare you into abstance by telling you all the stds you can catch, and the other side where it is the freaks who are addicted. simpely put, don't be ashamed to talk about it and do be selective with your partners and pass on this message and maybe we can recover from this.

Probably because all we're bombarded with these days is sex, sex, & more sex. (1) their parents aren't giving them the love, training & guidance they need to become a well-rounded member of society & think that the school system should be all things to their children. they need to take the responsibility for teaching their children right & wrong, good manners, about sex & not depend on society to do it for them. But, that being said, sex ed is good because education gives one the power to make good decisions for themselves & not rely on crap they hear from their peers who are as misguided as they are.

Sex is not education it is apart of nature. I believe that trying to educate young people about sex has left alot of people confused and they've lost that natural ability to know they're in Love when feeling romantic.

SEXUAL AWARENESS depends on the culture's openness about it. The society defines the limits of sexual activities and knowledge of people.
