Help settle a discussion. Do Cheech Marion and Tommy Chong have enough talent individually to have made it in show business on thier own, if the comedy team of Cheech and Chong never existed? I say Cheech, yes, Chong, probably not. A freind says Chong, yes, Cheech, probably not. Another says niether, they were a product of the time. Your opinion.?

Cheech Marin did make it on his own---he starred in a TV show called "Nash Bridges" with Don Johnson and was on "Judging Amy" the season before it was canceled. What about the movie "Tin Cup" with Kevin Costner? Or most recently, the voice of Ramone in "Cars." Check out all of his work at the link below. He's been a pretty busy guy since he left Chong behind---I'd say with all of the work he's had since that partnership that he definitely has "made it in show business."

Cheech an Chong were definitely a product of their time. Had it not been for their success as a duo neither one would have probably had any success individually.

Cheech has gone on to do more serious acting and has done surprisingly well. Tommy Chong has not. So that should answer the question for you.

I d say that Cheech Marion would have succeeded without duo ... I've seen him in more tv programs than Tommy Chong.

Not sure whatever happened to Tommy. Haven't seen him since "Nice Dreams".

2gether they were ok...alone they are not in my opinion anything worth spending my money on. Even as Cheech and Chong they were not my kind of entertainment...

I say yes they have talent they created some godly americana pop culture. But with out their alter egos I dont think they would have gotten a door to open for them. They are not exactly hollywood looking types.

I think each of them are talented individuals in their own right, but they are better as a duo. People can relate to their schtick. They play off one another and that's what makes them so good!

They both had their unique side of comedy. They both due well because of how well they did when they younger. Main thing thats drives them today is their voice overs.
