it depends on the cause. eyedrops usually help for bloodshot eyes caused by swimming or lack of sleep. if your eyes are bloodshoot because of drugs the best way is to stop taking drugs (but eyedrops will help here too). also eating lots of salty food can cause high blood pressure which causes bloodshot eyes, so cut back on that. also you might try drinking more water (not softdrinks or anything else). you might also have a eye problem if it is persistent and you are not guilty of any of the above. it this case consult your opthamologist.

Visine is a good answer, and the best! But keep it in your refridgerator for a real wake up call. In addition to it ,use the moisturizing kind, bloodshot eyes can also be the result of not having enough liquid in you eyes.

Eye drops, like Visine.
Your capillaries in your eyes are swollen (inflamed) causing the redness.
Visine is a topical anti-inflamitory and should work within a couple of minutes. Visine can even be used for irritated skin, like when you get razor burn.
