Several friends are conservation biologists. All of them work in marine biology, studying the health and condition of plant and marine life in rivers, wetlands, and ocean shore areas.
That can be important in a place such as Florida, where years of drought caused all sort of odd marine consequences. For example, certain kinds of grasses chocke the shrinking rivers and lakes. Bacteria and algae can also fill the waters, removing oxygen and killing fish.
One of my friends specializes in marine animals - and for a few years she has been keeping track of populations of fishes in various rivers and swamps. Sometimes she takes loads of young fish, raised in hatcheries, to be release in areas where the original populations have been fished out, died off, or diminished gretly. She spends most of the week living out of her truck, diving into the water at all hours of the day and night. She spends more time, on averge, in a diving suit with air tanks than she does in her official work uniform of shorts, blouse and heavy boots.
Although most of her work is done on her own, when she has to go to places where there may be snakes or alligators, or there is a risk of harm from people, she takes a colleague along.
This is but one kind of conservation bilogist. There are people who work with plains grasses and animals, forests, birds, and more. It's a fascinating and vigorous life, full of hard work, and is not paid very well. Oh, and there are conservation biologists who work in laboratories and offices, too. Not all of those jobs are traipsing the outdoors!

Con. Biologists have a tendency to spotlight endangered species, a touch regulation & coverage, and comparing administration practices, specially by skill of adaptive administration. They pattern and survey organic international, arise with and implement administration practices and concepts. It has a tendency to be lower than-loved through the final public's socio-political opinion (similar tale with maximum careers on the issue of the exterior). maximum jobs are federal (wooded area service, fish & flora and fauna service, ACOE). Con. Bio isn't my considerable concentration (restore Ecology), yet i have executed my straightforward percentage on the aspect, monitoring populations of Delmarva Fox Squirrels, Kirtland's Warblers, and Florida Panthers, spending a summer doing no longer some thing yet NEPA, mapping the genetics of jap Fox Snakes and pa Black Bears, etc. that is relaxing, interesting, and interesting artwork.
