Do you all think that we adults just were planted on Earth as adults? We were all teenagers at one time and we do understand the pressures and oddness of being strangers to the adults in our families.
The parents first and foremost responsiblity is to raise our children and protect them from harms way. With the changing times, different drugs, online predators now, its hard to see the things endangering our children. As our children grow up, we are there to help our children stay on the right track. Sometimes we forget what it was like to be teenagers, maybe if our children were to walk up to us and ask us what it was like... My son does it all the time. Believe me.. I don't envy any teenager, especially now a days. One day.. you'll look at your parents and be grateful that they punished you, drilled you on where you were going, and who you were going with. I look at some of the people I knew back in school, and they are bums, mothers with 5 kids from different men, drug addicts, in jail or dead.
A teenagers job, is to question every rule set, argue your point. This is a selfish stage we all go through.. don't take it as an insult, when you get to college and take psychology, you'll see.. Teenagers all go through it. I know many of you out there complaining about the rules in your house, do not necessarily want them over turned.. because you understand why they are there.. but, you would like them bent.. just a little. Trust is a major issue in families with teenagers.. for as long as your honest with your parents.. there will be trust there..
Now.. here is the question... How do you get both sides to meet in the middle??? I will not deny that there are extreme cases where the parents just don't care.. or care too much that you are not allowed the normal teenage life of friends and socializing. Or there are the teenagers that just don't care about what their parents think or feel.. the natural rebel to the authority.. Well.. to the parents.. that is one way to lose your children and never get back the special time you have with them.. before you know it.. you will have an adult on your hand.. Compromise.. and for you Teenagers who hate rules.. there is a song called.. "I fought the law.. and the Law won"... its an oldie.. but.. that hasn't changed.. you try and fight the law or the rules.. one of two things can and will happen.. Jail or Dead.. plain and simple..

sweetie don't stress this isn't a bad thing just how it is. your young and immature. adults do understand you as they did the same when they were your age! the problem is that they forget how to be a kid, responsibility etc. its like you playing with a 5 yr old, its fun for 2 Min's till they start doing stupid stuff like the same **** joke over and over then your like what ever that's what its like for adults. freedom is a load of **** that governments feed us to keep us subordinate because we think we have a choice but not really so freedom=propaganda

your parents would give you the freedoms you want if you acted like you had a brain. your parents are protecting you from your own stupidity and to the first answer its abnormal not unnormal. proves my point even further. worry more about school and grades than your social status. social staus means nothing in the adult world. you guys are neither old enough nor mature enough for the decisions you try to make

I feel the same. Adults don't understand the stress put on us. I love to die my hair to stand out but all the adults say I'm turning to a devil lover.

Your normal. Im ten years old and i hangout with teens. But to be truthful, parents dont understand. I learned that at age six. "Stop talking back!" "Change your clothes that skirt makes you like like a prostitute!" "I dont like the color red on you. It makes you look like a devil worshiper". "I dont like that rock music it hurts my ears!" "That dress has to go down to your ankles" "I like those elmo panties on you it's not like anyones gonna see em'" "No you can't have a padded bra!"
