It is good - so are many others. The big thing is there is no mystery to it - learn to "read" your horse. I have a friend who is an absolute believer in Parelli because it worked wonders on her horse. I do believe the techniques work but then have been using the same things long before the wave of high $$$$ tapes, books, clinics etc came along. There's a lot of basic things to do with a yearling that is with them for life.
Good luck with your appy filly. As soon as I can get a place I don't have to board out I'll be getting a few of them. :-)

I started a yearling filly with the Parelli program last year. And she is doing great!!! I suggest visiting their website and becomeing a member of the Savvy Club. I think its only $20 a month. Then you can get Parelli conference tickets for free!!!! You will also get DVD's and other stuff for free and good discounts on merchandise. Definately go to a Parelli conference!!! They are awesome! On the website you will be able to check their touring schedule and see if they are coming to your area soon. Parelli is great but there are other great trainers. I also really like Clinton Anderson because he deals with teaching young horses more and Chris Cox. If you have DirecTV channel 379 or Dish Network channel 9409 you can see all 3 trainers. The channel is RFDTV.
Best of luck!

Good for you! Horses are wonderful, at any age.
Lunging is a waste of time if it is done without any purpose. Your horse can do mindless circles all day long, and learn nothing. One of horses was so programmed to lunge, he would do 20 minutes each direction, when you put him in the round pen...even if you just turned him out to roll.
The Parelli Levels program is a great way to start your relationship with your horse, using mutual respect and common sense.
Below is a link to the description of the Seven Games.
If you want videos, and are not sold on the idea, but want to take a look, purchase the Level 1 Partnership in video format off of eBay. It is a 2 VHS set with Pocket Guides that you can take out to the barn with you.
The following videos have ONLY been released on VHS, and they are all several years old. The DVD versions are pirated bootleg copies, so don't get scammed:
The Seven Games
Natural Horse-Man-Ship Course Parts 1 & 2
Natural Horse-Man-Ship Course Parts 3 & 4
Natural Horse-Man-Ship Course Part 5
Freestyle Riding
Teaching Your Horse at Liberty
Natural Leads and Lead Changes
Natural Trailer Loading
Do More with Your Hores....Naturally
Opposition Reflex & Zone-Ology
If your are ready to delve into the program deeper, purchase the Level 1 in DVD directly from Parelli. You will pay more than eBay prices, but if something ever happens to one of your DVDs you will have better luck with a replacement if you purchased them legit.
I would recommend purchasing a REAL Parelli 12 foot line and a REAL Parelli rope halter. If you do not agree that the quality is there you can sell them on eBay and get most, if not all, of your money back.
It is really great to be able to collect a horse from the pasture by calling a name and standing at the gate, brush, pick, saddle and bridle wihout the horse being anchored to anything, do a pre-ride check to make sure the horse is in tune with you, check the cinch, get on and ride.
versus
Chase the horse around the pasture for an hour before bringing in a bucket of oats to trick him into getting caught. Then lunge until he settles down, then tie to a sturdy post and battle to brush and saddle, give up trying to pick the feet, then lunge some more, then attempt to bridle, then spend another 20 minutes to get him to stand still long enough for you to hop on, then play tug-o-war and toss-the-rider the entire ride.
Parelli is not the only game in town. However, the same results can be obtained from someone that has never even touched a horse, just by following the directions in the videos and on the pocket guides.
Also. BUY A HELMET and WEAR IT!!
There are many riders that are dead, because the helmet messed up their hair, or the helmet was not cool. Even the most trained horse, can stumble or spook when scared.
Accidents can and will happen. Wear the helmet. They have new, light weight ones, and you can get trendy covers for them...

Yea, Parelli is great. For me, that is the best method of Natural Horsemanship. I recommend that you find the one that is best for you and go with it. A really good book to learn about all the different teachers of Natural Horsemanship (besides Parelli) is 'The Revolution of Horsemanship'. Some other kinds would be Clinton Anderson, John Lyons....
They all use different methods. Pat Parelli started the whole Natural Horsemanship thing, he came up with the word. But, one of the other trainers may suit you better. I would for sure try Parelli out first though! :) The only thing that I do not like about Parelli is that they do not wear helmets. Please get a helmet and wear it! Any horse can spook! And what if your horse gets stung by a bee? Will being savvy really make a difference there? :)
Besides that, Parelli is great! Linda and Pat are really friendly and their levels program really covers it all!
Hope this helps!

YES!! Parelli is one of the best training methods i've heard of. it teaches the horse to trust you, and accept you, it also helps the horse become bombproof and you can use it to teach it tricks. i know one person that when you wave your finger it backs up and when you slap the side of your leg it lays down that way you can get in the saddle. He accomplished this by using Parelli.
