been to dealer and cant find intermitent problem . 2002 ford exploeror ,v6 23,000 miles. hardly used. at 40 mph cuts off. if on beltway and going fast the inertia it restarts itself but at 40 i have t pull over sometimes to restart it . this is a once in 5 trips this happens .this is the pickup style .exploer and told it might be a late 2001 modle not 2002. have searched web here talk of fuel pump relay or pump.dose not happen went taken to dealer so they dont no what to do.

try changing the ignition module (does not always show up when checked ) contacts may be corroded requiring a replacement (if not sealed well moisture gets to the connections this can be solved with a dab of silicone sealer put around the boot and plug ). not the pick up in the distributor (that almost never goes bad ) and a check on voltage at the coil would be a good point to check too (step test to see if there is a voltage drop once it gets hot to operating temperature ) and yes as another person suggested change your fuel filter if you hav'nt recently .
