can i just plug the speakers jack in it n play so the voice get outta my speakers with the subwoofer-or however u spell it-??

#i wanna use this instead of the hi fi thing can i?!

Sure. Just plug it into the aux input of your receiver using a 1/8 to RCA patch cord plugged into the headphone jack of your MP3 player. Done!

The iPod outputs a stereo signal. 5.1 usually means 'Surround Sound' which is 5 channels. If you get the correct cables to connect the iPod to the system, you can get stereo sound. Many 5.1 systems can synthesize the surround sound effect. The iPod will feed left and right. It is up to you to configure the system to handle it as best it can.
