A pen drive is usually referred to as a Thumb drive, Jump Drive or USB drive. A small device which is used storage (like a hard drive) but connects to your USB port. You buy it in a fixed size, like 128 MB or 512 MB.
A memory card may serve the very same purpose of storage (like a hard drive) but the card is typically meant to be inserted into a digital camera. The most common memory card is the SD (Secure Digital) card.
Now, you can combine the two. You can use your memory card as a "thumb drive" by placing it into a "shell" or card reader.
This way you can change the size of your "thumb drive" whenever you like.
