No not all, in fact a lot of the hollywood epics are overblown and exagerated, like how you see no ethnic cowboys right, well in fact a third were black and mexican, the first cowboys were mexican called vaqueros, but there still was a lot of violence though but not as rambunctuous as portrayed on tv and films

I wouldn't think so, Hollywood do add a lot of hype to their films.
Plus, how many time have you seen hollywood actors SHOT, Then only to re-appear in another film. If i was shot in the wild west, i don't think i'de be typing this now.

Definitely not. The "Wild West" was far less violent than Hollywood would have you believe. It was BECAUSE events like Billy the Kid and the OK Corral were so rare that they got so much press attention.

I imagine they took a bit of "poetic license" to make it more appealing to the masses they planned on entertaining. But on a cross-country trip we recently took from Los Angeles to Jacksonville (Florida), we stopped over in Tombstone (yes there IS a real town named that) in Arizona and the town looked like it came right out of a western movie! It was awesome seeing something that looked exactly like the most recent movie portrayed! I'm not sure where they filmed the movie, but it could have been there, because it looked exactly the same! It's a bit off the beaten track, some 30 odd miles from Interstate 10, but well worth the 30 minutes of winding desert road to get there. We're going back, but taking my youngest when we go. She LOVES that movie, and we got her a t-shirt with the actors who played in the movie, on it.
