I'm 30 years old and live alone, and most of my activities are done alone, spending time in front of the TV and computer, jogging, eating. I work in a corporation where I am surrounded by people and I have good relationships there, but when it comes to life outside of work, I spend it mainly in my apartment. I used to party all the time and get a lot of girls, one night stands, but it got old and exhausting. I don't want a girlfriend because they usually are such a headache, and I have become very distant from my family members. Is it okay to live like this? I think of the alternative and I know I am much happier in the situation I'm in now, but society seems to dictate it's not okay. What do you think?

If you're happy thats one thing and who the hell cares what society thinks... Society thinks as a woman, you have to be tall, blonde and weight 115lbs to be sexy, which is bulls***.... but the question is... is your choice healthy?
I dont see anything wrong with doing things alone, but who are you going to turn to if things in your life get rough and you need a friend to talk to? Who do you go to for any much needed advice? I think everyone needs some (even if just a little bit) of social activity--dont consider the workplace a place to socialize is all I'm saying.
Even the Bible says, "Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work; If one falls down his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up." (that doesnt necessarily mean physically fall--altho it can mean that also) it's just good to have a friend that can help you when youre feeling down and out, to lend an ear.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying your own company but somehow you don't sound very happy.

Maybe you're just taking a break after a fairly rowdy youth. But long term - do you really want to spend your life in your apartment with the TV and your computer?

If your past has consisted mostly of one night stands, your comment about girlfriends being a headache sounds at least - unfair.

The kicker is - that you've put distance between yourself and your family. Unless there's a really good reason for that - consider seeing a doctor. You may be suffering from clinical depression.

It causes people to just stop enjoying things they used to do and isolate themselves. It can happen over time so you don't even realize it.

Good luck.

Its ok I am happy alone too. I used to go out a lot. I have noticed that I get spells for years where I need to be alone and then it changes sometimes and I start going out. You say you are happy and thats all that matters. I too am happy

Do what you are happy doing. The problem with us is that we care what society thinks. So say f*** you to the world and as long as you are happy darpe diem!

If your happy with it then it shouldn't matter what society dictates. And when you feel like a change, then change!

There is no one lifestyle a person is obligated to live. You do what is comfortable for you. It's your life.
