One could make a case that America has surely been blessed by God. We have natural resources, space in plenty, and any other purely physical benefit. In 1776 and 1787 (Declaration of Independence and Constitution, respectively), we were also blessed with personalities with more vision in their little fingers than the vast majority of latter day politicians have in their entire bodies! Americans are, like most people, opportunistic. We took the natural blessings, and made the country the place it is. With all its faults, it seems to be the place a fair number of people wish to come. The examples you cite are severely limited in scope, and given the fact of war, occurrences like them are all too common, in all ages, and in all times.

The comments associated with your question are all based upon war. I don't think wars a backdrop for opportunity. The opportunity lies in two things I think, our political system, and our entrepreneurship. Just ask the ethnic owner of a local family restaurant - they'll tell you that they probably came to this country for an opportunity to better themselves in our (relatively) peaceful society.

Think!
Americans killed millions of local people, stole their lands, create ghettos, attack every now and then other nations, and so on! Do you think any god would bless such actions? No, my dear friend, we are not blessed, we just use the power of weapons, money, ignorance, etc. and get whatever we want!
