Ortho sells a product that is for this type of mold. I had it on my beautiful antique roses. You will have to be agressive with this and make sure to apply the product one a week. I didnt do that and had to get rid of the entire plant that I had had fpr 10 years. The soil can become infected with the powery mold as well. Make sure that you take off all of the black spotted leaves. I found that when I watered at night it ENCOURAGED the mold so dont water the roses until morning and try not to get water on the leaves. Sometimes the insects are so tiny it's really hard to see.Try wiping tops and bottoms with rubbing alcohol,it will give you a little time while you'er trying to find a solution.Hope this help.

Certainly does sound like Aphids. I'll bet you have ants around those plants too. Ant colonies and Aphid colonies often appear together they live symbiotically - each colony benefits the other.

If you see ants, it will help indirectly to control the Aphid problem by getting rid of the ants, because then natural predators like bees, bugs, spiders, and birds may take care of your Aphid problem.
