That this is the 21st century? All of their "so called" champions (yes, all 26 of them) were SOOOOOO last century?

Really now, they yankees have NOT won a world series this century, nor do I think they ever will.

Guess what? It's the yankees turn to be cursed for the next 100 years...and I will enjoy every day of it.

Hear, Hear!! You are a prophet who sees not only the flaws in the fans who reason that the Yankees are the best, but also who sees into the future to see that nothing is going to change for them. So many of us will be enjoying the next 100 years while the Yankees continue to waste money trying to buy a pennant, living on their past glory, and falling flat on their faces.

Have to call it as I see it too.

When is the last time the Tigers won a world series?? And they are not called "so called" championships - they are called CHAMPIONSHIPS (yes, all 26 of them) - a word never used to describe the Tigers. And even if the Yankees are cursed for the next 100 years, Yankee fans will still be the best fans in the world!!!

The Yankees have had long droughts before, but they always come back. They will again, and in less than 100 years. I do think, though, that they need new management. I think that the reason the Mets & your Tigers are doing so well, and the big "Moneyball" teams aren't is that the Mets & Tigers are having fun, while the Yankees & Both Sox are playing like joyless corporate men. They're doing a job, the Mets & Tigers are playing a game.

I think because of the Yanks success in the late 90's, many teams adopted that corporate mindset, but it is collapsing on the Yanks, and will collapse on them, too. We'll start seeing more teams with open cultures winning the Series for the next few years, but the Yanks will be back.

They always come back.

ok time to silence the critics, i would be kind of scared if i was a red sox fan, or any other team for that matter. Look at the yankees right now, so many key injuries, suspensions. But guess what, we are still winning, a-rod is hitting only .180 in the month of june, and we are still winning. Because all of our other players are stepping up. Red sox fans can not tell me if manny ramirez was injured, and david ortiz was hitting .180 that they would be were they are right now.

And that entire comment about not playing as a team, i what the hell are you talking about, if we werent playing as a team, we would not be winning games with players like melky cabrera, bubba crosby, andy phillips, kelly stinnett. The only 3 players on our team that have been consistent this year have been robinson cano, bernie williams, and jason giambi. So before you say the yankees will never win, worry about if you guys will make the playoffs. (thats to you red sox fans, because we are in first place with all the problems we are having)

I love this question! I always tell my Yankee fan friends that they haven't won a thing in 5 years now, and have been embarrassed twice this century (D-backs and the total colapse to the BoSox) The Boss can spend $300 million, it won't buy another championship if you don't play AS A TEAM!!! I, for one, am sick of the chest thumping, 'we've got 26 series rings' crap. NY could go 0-162 and I would never be happier.

Bt the way, I'm not a fan of the AL (since 1973 and the idiotic DH rule) I'm a DODGERS fan...since '66

I say amen to that. Let this be the century of parity. Let all the teams win three except the Yankees. Honestly, I don't like the Red Sox either, so another 86 years would be nice. How about the Brewers? Tigers? Devil Rays (JK)? Royals? Mariners? Rangers? Astros? Pirates? Indians? Anybody but those two teams.

I actually kind of like the Yankees but you are right.I don't know about the whole 100 years thing but I think it will be a while until they win.I think throughout that time they will loose a lot of fans. The people say that the Yankees have the best fans in the world but that's just because they win. When they even have a bad game, their fans become the worst in baseball.

Well, the Yankees have the highest payroll in MLB and have tons of superstars.......What do they have to show for it??

Like you said, in the 21st century, NOTHING. They'll continue to be good and they'll continue to be a threat.

I'll laugh every time they blow a 3-0 lead in the ALCS.

I don't think they'll have a curse. It is just a matter of time. And hopefully they won't get too cocky the next time they take a convincing lead in a playoff series.

so the yankees go 5 years and people r saying there over. boston went almost 90 years without a world series championship so i dont even want to hear anything about the yankees not wining in the past 5 years. they are still the best.

Yea, it's nice to know that the last World Series the Yanks won was in 2000 against the Mets. Since then, it's been Diamondbacks in 2001, Angels in 2002, Marlins in 2003, Red Sox in 2004(HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA), and White Sox in 2005.

This year I think the A's will beat the Braves in the World Series.

I hope my son who was born in 2004 will never see the yankees win a world series about time other teams start going and winning
I get bored at sports when the same teams make it to the world series or super owl
