Up to a few months ago, everyone in the media talked about global warming, now all we here is climate change. Is this because the weather in the UK is so miserable most of the time, people think higher temperatures and less rain would be great. When climate change is mentioned, people think of natural disasters such as hurricanes and flooding.

Because climate change is the result of global warming.

“Technically, an abrupt climate change occurs when the climate system is forced to cross some threshold, triggering a transition to a new state at a rate determined by the climate system itself and faster than the cause. The cause may be chaotic and thus
undetectably small.”

Adverse effects or impacts, refers to the potential negative
effects of climate change as well as the impact of the
implementation of response measures. Such effects or
impacts include sea level rise, change in precipitation or
other weather patterns, and reduced demand for fossil
fuels or other energy intensive products. Impacts of
climate change can be positive as well as negative.

Here's a definition of climate and climate change which hopeful you will make sense:

Climate
The average trend of weather, including its variability in
a geographical region. The averaging period is typically
several decades.

Climate Change (UNFCCC definition)
A change of climate which is attributed directly or indirectly
to human activity that alters the composition of
the global atmosphere and which is in addition to
natural climate variability over comparable time periods.

I think it may be because scientists are becoming less sure as to what the consequences and final change will be. I seem to remember reading some where that some places will grow colder while others grow warmer- thus is not global or warming necessarilly. Could be to prevent people panicking in a OTT way due to the theory that not all change is for the worse? Only guessing

Well, global warming is still a factor, but people now realise it is only one factor, other factors include increased rain fall in some areas and less in others, raised water levels, changes in wind patterns and vegetation.

The whole climate is changing not just the temereture.

You do not understand the overall Republican philosophy. If worse comes to worse, we can spray paint a two mile wide white band around the equator. The Earth will look like a crochet ball, but it will reflect alotta heat.

dunno. You ever think that we're being lied to about this? did hydrocarbons cause the ice ages? did they then cause that ice to melt? doubt it.
just my theory, but the ice caps melting is simply part of a global cycle we can do nothing about, climate change has always happenned, its just that nowadays people cant accept that things just happen.
I'm also sure theres plenty of people making fortunes telling us how we can prevent it
