"Form is Temporary, But the Class is Permanent" ---

In the Current "Form" ofcourse he can go past and take over Sachin and he has "Class" too.. So Once he takes over from Sachin, It will be really hard for Sachin to take back the record. Having said that, Sachin's "Class" is far more superior than Ricky so.. I think they will be fighting for the record until they both retire from the Test Cricket. --- And May the Best Man among the two Hold the record --- Amen

yes i agree to Steve Waugh's statement and after a long time again an Australian will be on the top of the world with regards to no of centuries if Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar does not come back to the field of cricket. But if he comes back and carries the same form which he had earlier than there will be an keen tussle on cards between the two.

Yes, the way he's going anyone would think he's in a hurry. He'll definitely get 50 Test Centuries. He's talented and young enough to do so. If they are talking about Shane Warne's chances of getting 1000 Test wickets then Rick Ponting should be in with a chance to break world records in runs, at test level.

Steve waugh all the best for this comment ...but dont worry the moment ricky ponting breaks sachin's record...you will find sachin breaking ponting's record and go far away from him...

i think steve waugh has gone mad.
at present sachin tendulkar and pointing are of same age and pointing is still 4-5 tons behind of 10dulkar.
its ok that sachin is out of form from last few months but he is now ready to come back in the game and in the form too.
and i think at the end their is only one person has the ability to hold the record for most number of test tons and he is THE GOD OF INDIAN CRICKET ONE AND ONLY "SACHIN TENDULKAR".

It is possible.

Right now, Tendulkar leads with 35, then Gavaskar 34, Lara and Waugh himself with 32 and then Ponting 31.

So Ponting could easily take the lead.

i dont want that... but that might be possible..sachin is struggling..and noone knows how he will comeout after injury..hope he makes more centuries...but i guess sehwag can overtake all of them..though its a bit early..but one these days if he makes 50s. he makes a big hundred..if you see tests and centuries of leading players..ponting has an edge..

sehwag 47 test 12 100s 3.91 (tests for 1 hundred)
tendulakar 132 test 35 100s 3.77
ponting 105 test 31 100s 3.387
lara 126 test 32 100s 3.937
So Ponting has least 3.38 tests per hundred..this shows he can make more 100s..

It may be possible, bcoz right now the way he is playing...It's wonderful. Sachin is right now not in that form which he used to be... May be after is surgery, he'll be back ,,, but U know It's cricket, anything is possible in this game.. u can not say that it's impossible.. may some one else come and he can be a way better then Sachin or Pointing... May be dravid will be or may be Lara... Cause they are also right now in good form... who knows....

At the rate at which Ricky is scring centuries, he will soon overtake Lara/Tendulkar and be the highest run getter as well as max centuries holder.
