i just wanted to chime in and say that there are plenty of things that get better with time....wine, cheese, friends...the list could go on forever. i don't necessarily think that as a world we have become better. but you know what, i don't think that we have gotten any worse. be the best person than you can be...i bet you will personally influence at least a few other people to do the same.

Overall, as a world, we are not more peaceful than in the past, but in some parts of the world there has not been widespread violence in quite a while. Why is that? Look at institutions, documents, laws, traditions. People don't change that much over the ages unless they are guided and restrained by these things. This is the way to get where you suggest you want the world to be. Don't mistake arguing and disagreement for unpeacefulness, even strong arguing. It is, in fact, the way to keep things peaceful, if it's not suppressed and if it's kept within the laws and traditions. Also, as that wise answerer Mark F says above, do some good around you and it will spread.

As a society, I don't think we are more advance than before, Our patience is getting shorter. There are all this political corrected ways of doing things now. You cannot punish your child for doing something wrong. How are they ever going to learn the wrong and right. They tell you to stand up for what you believe in ; however, what does that mean anymore. When we are all are going, going and not caring for our neighbor, our fellow person . If we were more peaceful there would be no wars in the world and not road rage on the street.

No, the world isn't becoming better, more accepting, or peaceful - and it never will. So long as human nature dictates that we're going to be a warmongering, selfish, hateful species, nothing will ever change.

I don't endorse turning a blind eye to the rest of the world - but thinking about it doesn't make anything better. There's not much anyone can do to change the human psyche.

No, there is still so much hate in the world. We are all born of a woman and we all bleed the same red blood, but yet we still like acceptance and peace on this earth.

No I don't think so because there are too many wars and haters in the world. We spend too much time looking out of this world. More needs to be done here on earth (eliminating poverty, hunger, homelessness, sickness, etc.) rather than being concerned with who is on Mars.

Given that there are issues in this country that need fixing, and you seem to have a vision, under any circumstances.
Would you become President?
We need to reestablish "Moral" standards in this country, the need for fiscal responsibility, and the importance of Free Enterprise.
Colin Powell speaks~ "Terrorism is scary. They can come and knock down buildings. They can kill some of our fellow citizens. But they can't defeat us as a Nation."

The Romans haven't fed any Christians to the lions or crucified anyone, lately. Druids aren't burning captives and the French aren't scalping Indians. Priests aren't being murdered in Mexico and the Spanish haven't obliterated any civilizations, except their own.

I guess most of the really bad stuff is going on in mother Africa.

We always try to amalgamate ourselves into this impossibly large, unmanageable group...for example...the world. We are individuals and are therefore responsible to ourselves first and foremost. I believe that I have become better, more accepting and peaceful and I will continue to do what I can to help others do the same.

I would say that the good stayed and, of course, misunderstood. The bad got worse and the undecided drifted to the bad. It's hard to remain peaceful when terrorists exist.
