In the US it would be about $32. In India I guess the same price around Rs. 1440? Unless RAM is cheaper at home...

It won't cost you very much at all. Though RAM is more expensive then, lets say, hardrive, the upgrade isn't too extensive so it won't cost you a lot of money. A good 256 Mb RAM to get, for cheap, in India would probably be a "Crucial Technology 256MB 168-Pin SDRAM Unbuffered PC 133 System Memory - OEM".
This upgrade only costs $57 and is a very good product. Before you buy, however, you need to check the RPM of the RAM and make sure it matches with your computer configuration.

There are two types of RAM
(i) SD ===> 128 is 650
256 is 1500
(ii) DDR ===> 128 is 550-600
256 is 1050-1100

This depends on the type of RAM SD or DDR.
If the RAM is SD then it will cost you between Rs.500-600.
If the RAM is DDR then it will cost you between Rs.300-500.
This estimation is based on assuming the price of your 128MB RAM
Rs.600.The given estimation is the basic difference between the prises of 128 MB & 256 MB RAM of new condition(first hand.)

A SD RAM willl be difficult to get.
A DDR RAM might cost somewhere around Rs. 1200 to 1500
