I want to get them all on dvd, but obviously I can't get them all at once. Which should I get first? Totoro? Spirited Away? Howl's Moving Castle? or some other?

Definately Spirited Away! Although Princess Mononoke was good too.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Though Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle are also excellent

It depends on what kind of movie you like.
And don't just limit it to Miyazaki! All Ghibli films are worth watching!
Whisper of the Heart is a cute, realistic romance.
Grave of the Fireflies is a depressing WWII movie.
Porco Rosso is kind of an action.. fantasy.. something.
My favorite isn't available in America unless you order a bootleg or something. :(

wow this is a good question. and they are were all sooo good...
For me though.. it would probably be Howl's Moving Castle, this one stands out in my mind currently.
